How to make a classic gin martini cocktail. You may substitute gin with vodka if that's your poison. Here's a recipe for a dry martini, with olives.
Ingredients
• 2 1/2 oz gin, Tanqueray or Bombay Sapphire • dry vermouth, Martini & Rossi • olives
Directions
Fill a martini glass with ice and water. Let it sit for at least 30 seconds to chill the glass, then empty it. Or if you're planning ahead, keep empty glasses chilled in the freezer.
Spray the vermouth into the glass using a mister. Or if you don't have a mister, just pour in a 1/2 tsp of vermouth, swirl it up the sides, and toss the excess.
Shake the gin well with ice (again, 30 secs). Strain into glass.
Toss in an olive or two. If two or more, keep them together skewered with a toothpick. Olives will track a little olive brine. This adds flavor to the martini, making it slightly "dirty".
